Friends & Relationships

We share some of our best experiences with friends and with those with whom we have a special relationship. Equally, when things go wrong with friends and loved ones then this can be one of our worst experiences and can really leave us heartbroken and hurt.

The internet has further redefined friendships and relationships. Many of us have lots of Facebook & Snapchat friends and followers on Twitter & Instagram. And being “unfriended” or “blocked” can be quite a humiliating experience.

Here are some points to bear in mind:

Talk it out

We all can’t agree on absolutely everything. We are all unique and have our opinions so diasgreements are bound to happen. However, not tackling those disagreements can lead to lots of ill feeling that keeps playing on our minds and this is when people over react. Often, just simply talking things through in a calm, mature way will ease unnecessary tension.

Compromise

Learning to give and take and back down from your view point to keep the peace will diffuse potential flashpoints. No one likes to lose an argument but no argument is one when tempers are rising so letting things be will instantly make you feel better.

Forgive and ask forgiveness

Often, when we fall out with someone then we might say or do things that we shouldn’t have. Be honest enough to hold your hand up and apologise. Admit that you were at fault. You’ll be surprised at how quickly people warm to you. Equally, if someone does hurt us then accept their apology. No one is perfect and we all get emotional. Forgiveness will liberate your soul.

Move on

We can’t be friends with everyone and people are entitled to have a relationship with anyone so if we feel that someone isn’t entirely enjoying our company then don’t force the issue. The world is full of beautiful and amazing people so move on and enjoy making new friends.
