Together for change
A Social action project designed, developed and established by young girls for young girls under the mentorship of SKY Positive Minds. This is an initiative that put young girls in the driving seat allowing them to share ideas of projects that be will of benefit to them and the wider community.
In 2018, following a consultation with 50 young girls in Kirklees we were successful in securing the Bright Ideas fund to support the young girls develop a support hub which would act as a safe space for young girls to discuss in confidence issues affecting them and work together to address them.
Joining SYNC – Together for change means you will:
- Get expert support from SKY Positive Minds
- Boost confidence and self-esteem
- Participate in Social Action projects
- Enhance employment credentials
- Learn new skills
So if you are a young girl aged 12-20 years and would like to get involved then please get in touch. We would love to hear from you!
Addressing the key issues
SYNC – Together for Change hold monthly workshops addressing the key issues which affect them. The topics are identified and delivered by the young girls themselves with the support of SKY Positive Minds. This is an excellent opportunity for young girls to express themselves in a safe space building confidence and resilience. The girls also learn a whole range of key skills such as communication, team working, working to deadlines, and addressing an audience and so much more which are immensely valuable to their personal development and growth.
So far we have delivered the following topics:
- Mental Health
- Self Love
- Confidence & Self Esteem
- Dealing with Bullies
- Managing Exams Periods
- Body Shaming
- Social Media
Contact us if you are a young person and would like to get involved.

From our local community
We recognised the amount of talent young girls form our local community had but due to the lack of confidence and self-esteem and personal barriers we found young girls were not utilising their talents to their fullest potential and so, following our successful bid to the #will fund, the Young Social Entrepreneur Programme was launched. This is our very own ‘junior apprentice programme and is a wonderful opportunity for young girls to get involved in yet another social action initiative which will enable young girls to:
- Launch a charity store online
- Receive awards, publicity and an opportunity for a paid role
- Enhance business skills and employment credentials
- Contribute to positive social change
To take benefit from all of the above and really give your confidence a boost, contact us to find out more.
